ABSTRACT
Recent data about the rates of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) show that the prevalence in advanced countries varies between 3.5% to 12%; in Europe, the median is around 6.5%; and in Italy, it is about 5% with an economic impact of 1 million Euros/year (download the financial burden of HAI).
To improve the standard of care, it is necessary to improve Best Practices and implement innovative strategies with a proactive focus on reducing post-surgical infections and predictable infections related to healthcare.
